Flea Market Capitals of America: Which States Have the Most?
Flea markets are an American tradition, but some corners of the country are far more obsessed than others. We analyzed our directory of 3,105 flea markets to find the true flea market capitals of the United States, by total markets, by markets per resident, and by city.
The headline finding is a genuine surprise: the flea market capital of America isn’t Texas or California. It’s Arkansas, which has roughly 85.7 flea markets per million residents, nearly three times the rate of any other state. The Ozarks and the South make up a clear “flea market belt” that leaves the big coastal states behind on a per-person basis.

Methodology
This study is based on FleaMarketsNearYou’s directory of 3,105 flea markets across the United States, compiled from public listing data and verified locations. “Markets per million residents” uses 2020 U.S. Census population figures and is calculated for states with at least 20 markets in our directory, to keep the comparison meaningful. Coverage varies by region, so totals reflect markets in our directory rather than a complete national census.
